You can use these contact details for privacy inquiries and to exercise your rights.
2. Website delivery and hosting
The website uses Vercel Pro, provided by Vercel Inc. Ordinary requests for pages and site assets reach Vercel even though financial calculations run locally. Request processing can include your IP address, requested URL and path, request time, browser and user-agent information, other technical and security metadata, approximate location derived from IP, and technical logs.
We use this processing to deliver the website, maintain its availability and protect it against abuse. Our legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR, reflecting our legitimate interest in operating a reliable and secure website.
Vercel's Data Processing Addendum applies to Pro customers and governs processing on our behalf. Vercel also acts as a controller for certain service-generated data under its Privacy Notice. Data may be processed in the United States and other countries. The DPA includes EU Standard Contractual Clauses for transfers to which those clauses apply; this is not an EU-only hosting arrangement.
Logs and retention
Vercel's runtime-log documentation lists one day of customer-accessible runtime logs for standard Pro, with longer retention for some configurations. This website is statically generated and has no application server functions. That runtime-log window is not a deletion deadline for all CDN requests, infrastructure logs or other Vercel data.
Retention varies by the Vercel product, configuration, data category and applicable agreement. Runtime Logs do not describe all CDN, infrastructure or security processing. Vercel's Privacy Notice provides for retention according to its documented purposes and legal or contractual needs, followed by deletion or anonymization when no longer needed; where deletion is not possible, such as in backups, data is stored securely.
3. Browser-local financial calculations
Perp Mechanics provides educational tools for hypothetical scenarios. The Workbench and standalone funding-rate, perpetual P&L and liquidation-price calculators perform calculations locally in your browser. Inputs can include prices, quantities, directions, leverage, collateral, funding rates and intervals, margin assumptions, fees, spreads, slippage, scenario paths and strategy parameters.
The application does not send these inputs or calculated results to a Perp Mechanics backend. It has no user accounts, exchange account connections, API keys, trading execution backend or live market-data service. Requests to load the website are separate from your local calculations.
4. Browser storage and local files
Optional Workbench browser save
The Workbench starts with a default hypothetical example. It does not automatically read or write localStorage or restore previous inputs. No persistent scenario data is written automatically, and all calculations work without persistent storage.
Under Local save, Save to this browser saves the current valid analysis once in localStorage under basis-workbench-v1. Stored data includes the analysis name, hypothetical inputs and configuration, including any scenario path or market labels. Later edits require another explicit Save action to update that copy.
Restore browser save reads and validates that saved analysis only when you request it, including valid saves from earlier versions. Delete browser save removes only that Workbench key and keeps the current analysis in page memory. You can also use your browser's site-data controls. The saved data can persist across browser sessions until you or the browser remove it; there is no automatic expiry set by the application. Stored scenarios are not transmitted to an application backend.
Comparison snapshots
Up to three named comparison snapshots are held in application memory (React state). They are lost when the page is reloaded, closed or left, unless the browser restores the existing page from memory. The snapshot list is not saved in localStorage or sessionStorage. Loading a snapshot makes it the current analysis without creating or updating a persistent browser save.
JSON import and export
JSON imports are read and validated locally in your browser; there is no file upload endpoint. An accepted import becomes the current analysis without creating or updating a persistent browser save. Exports are generated locally and downloaded to your device as a JSON file. Perp Mechanics does not keep a server copy of imported or exported files. Downloaded files remain on your device until you remove them.
Standalone calculators
The three standalone calculators keep their inputs in page memory. They do not use localStorage, sessionStorage or IndexedDB to persist your inputs. The browser-save controls apply only to the Workbench.
5. Cookies and tracking
The application does not set HTTP cookies and currently uses no analytics or marketing tracking. It includes no advertising pixels, heatmaps or session recording. This is separate from technical hosting and security processing by Vercel.
The optional browser-save function stores or accesses information on your device only in response to the corresponding control. Section 25 of the German Telecommunications Digital Services Data Protection Act (TDDDG) governs such storage and access separately from the GDPR rules on processing personal data. Calculations do not depend on using this function.
6. Contact by email or telephone
If you contact us, we use the information you provide to handle your inquiry. Email correspondence may include your name, email address, message, attachments and technical communication metadata. For telephone inquiries, this may include your number and information you share during the call.
Email is processed through Fastmail Pty Ltd, PO Box 234, Collins Street West, VIC 8007, Australia. Fastmail acts as a processor for email communications data under its Data Protection Agreement. Its Privacy Policy describes international processing, including in the United States and Australia. Fastmail's DPA incorporates EU Standard Contractual Clauses for applicable restricted transfers. Email processing is not restricted to Germany or the EU.
For inquiries concerning a contract with you or steps you request before entering one, the legal basis is Article 6(1)(b) GDPR. For other inquiries, it is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR and our legitimate interest in responding to correspondence. Providing contact information is voluntary, but we need a reply address or number to respond.
We delete correspondence when it is no longer needed to handle the inquiry, unless a legal retention duty or the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims requires further retention. Mandatory retention is based on Article 6(1)(c) GDPR; retention for legal claims is based on Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. Provider backup and deletion procedures are governed by the applicable Fastmail terms.
7. External links and resources
Guides and other pages contain ordinary outbound links to exchange documentation, regulatory sources, research and other references. These are links, not embedded services: the website does not load the destination merely because a link appears on a page. Following a link takes you to the external website, where its own data-protection practices apply.
The application serves its styles, scripts and images from this website and uses fonts available on your device. It does not load third-party fonts, embedded videos, social widgets or market APIs. There is no affiliate redirect or commercial tracking integration in the current application.
8. Your rights
Subject to the conditions in the GDPR, you have the following rights in relation to your personal data:
- Access to your data and information about its processing (Article 15).
- Rectification of inaccurate data and completion of incomplete data (Article 16).
- Erasure of data (Article 17) and restriction of processing (Article 18).
- Data portability where processing is automated and based on consent or a contract (Article 20).
- Objection under Article 21, on grounds relating to your particular situation, to processing based on Article 6(1)(f). We must stop that processing unless we demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds that override your interests, rights and freedoms, or need it for legal claims.
- Withdrawal of consent at any time where consent is the legal basis, without affecting the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal (Article 7(3)).
- A complaint to a competent supervisory authority, in particular in the EU Member State of your habitual residence, place of work or the alleged infringement (Article 77).
Contact info@perpmechanics.com to exercise your rights. You do not need to contact us before lodging a complaint. Scenarios stored only in your browser can be removed with Delete browser save or through your browser's site-data controls; we cannot retrieve or delete them remotely.
